Three Wilkes property owners report having items stolen within the past day or so. The first was reported about 10:45 yesterday morning at a home on Oak Forest in Millers Creek. Timothy Edwards reported three electric tool were stolen — two saws and a cordless drill. Edwards says he found the tools missing when he arrived for work yesterday morning, and he suspects other people who have been working at the house the past several days, but were not there yesterday. The people he suspects stayed at the site working after he left Monday night. The value of the missing tools is about 300-dollars.
Another tool theft from a home under construction was reported about 1:30 yesterday afternoon. Gary Gibson says he arrived at the work site on Horseshoe Trail in Ferguson Monday and noticed two expensive tools had been taken over the weekend. The first, a 700-dollar DeWalt miter saw, had his name written in black marker on the case. The second, a 400-dollar DeWalt dual-tank air compressor, has no distinguishing markings. Gibson tells deputies there may have been a video camera recording at the entrance to the subdivision over the weekend — they are still working to obtain that video if it exists.
Around noon yesterday, Linda Garwood called sheriff deputies to her home on Harris Road outside North Wilkesboro, to report someone had stolen a patio set. She’d just bought the 300-dollar set Monday and brought it home still in the box, but she left it sitting outside in the bed of a pickup overnight. When she woke up yesterday morning, somone had taken the box from the pickup bed.
Deputies continue their investigation of each case.
