News, Wilkes

A North Wilkesboro man has been arrested for financial card fraud, after deputies say he used credit cards found in someone else's wallet to make purchase for himself. The man who left his wallet on the counter at Dewey's Country Store last week by mistake went back not to long after he realized it, to find the wallet missing. A Visa card, a Lowes credit card, and the man's ID and social security card were in teh wallet at the time.

When he called the bank to report the Visa card stolen, the operator told him it had already been used at a local car stereo store. An employee at the store told deputies Wesley Blackwell had used the card, which he said belonged to his grandfather and was being used with permission, to buy about 300-dollars worth of stereo equipment. Blackwell and the victim are not related. According to deputies, although the cards have been canceled, whoever has them now has continued to try and use them. A warrant was issued Thursday for Blackwell's arrest.
