The Car Was Unlocked, But the Thief Had to Break Into the House

A Hays man didn't have a lot of information for sheriffs deputies to go on, after he reported several items stolen recently. Samuel Wagner called deputies last Friday evening, saying someone had stolen a portable DVD player from his car, and had opened a window to get into his house, where the thief had taken several pieces of jewelry. The loss includes the DVD player, valued at 350-dollars, a rope chain, a rope bracelet, a nugget bracelet, a seven-diamond cluster ring and a single diamond ring. The total value of the jewelry is 5-thousand dollars, according to Wagner. He admits to leaving the car unlocked, and says he has no idea who the thief might be. The only time frame he could offer for the theft was sometime between June 17th and last Friday.
