All about lake enforcement officers

I (and other responsible boaters) would like to know: What specifically is the mission and/or role of the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission lake enforcement officers? Chris Good, Mooresville.A few boaters have sent similar e-mails this summer wondering about the jurisdiction and rights of lake enforcement officers from the four surrounding counties and the wildlife commission.
The lake enforcement units from the counties have the right to stop and arrest boaters anywhere on the lake, regardless of where a violation occurs. The county officers also enforce local regulations, such as the rafting rule enacted by the Lake Norman Marine Commission this year. Read more
