A Roaring River man is behind bars following a police chase early Saturday morning that started when a deputy in Ronda clocked him driving 70 miles an hour in a 35 zone. When the deputy lit up his blue lights, the man increased his speed to about 85 miles and hour, and the deputy says as he was chasing him, the driver crossed the center line multiple times, then lost control of the car just outside Roaring River. 32-year old Kevin Hayworth slammed into a tree, causing his air bag to deploy. As the deputy stopped, Hayworth got out of the car and would not obey the deputy's commands. After multiple warnings that he needed to follow directions or a Taser would be used on him, the deputy discharged the Taser, bringing Hayworth under control. After refusing medical attention two times, Hayworth was booked into jail on multiple traffic charges related to the chase, and on charges of resisting arrest and fleeing to elude capture.
