Ferguson Man Dies in Saturday Wreck

A Ferguson man is dead, following a single-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon. Friends say 30-year old John Adam Hamby was returning from a fishing trip when he crashed. Highway Patrol dispatchers tell me Hamby was northbound on Mount Pleasant Road about 4 Saturday afternoon, went off the right-hand side of the road and hit a rock, then rolled down an embankment. He was critically injured, and airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He died there later Saturday. The highway patrol continues its investigation; it is unknown at this time whether alcohol or speed played a role in the wreck. Reins-Sturdivant is handling arrangements for Hamby's funeral, which is still pending.
