A loud muffler and a burned out light on the license plate caught the attention of a Wilkesboro police officer late last week, and led to the arrest of a Lexington man after more than a pound of marijuana was found in the car. It happened shortly after midnight Thursday. The 1991 Honda was driven by 19-year old Steve Monroe Dillon of Lexington. He was stopped by the officer near Pleasant Grove Baptist church, according to the crime report. The officer says he saw a green leafy substance in the center console of the car. Dillon showed signs of possible drug use, including bloodshot eyes and dilated pupils. A drug dog from the Wilkes County Sheriff Department was brought to the scene, and registered a hit on the car in two places: a small baggie of marijuana in the driver's door and over pound of the stuff in the trunk along with a set of scales. Dillon had more than 12-hundred dollars in his wallet. Dillon faces six charges ranging from having an improper muffler to drug possession with intent to sell.
