Two Wilkes residents report the theft of more than 65-hundred dollars in cash, along with jewelry and other items, stolen when someone broke into their house. Linda Brown and Robert Brown are listed as victims in the case, but Scott Sturgill is the person who reported it to sheriff deputies Wednesday. He’s a neighbor to the Browns, and was coming home Wednesday afternoon when he saw three men run out of the Browns’ house on Rock Creek Road. The money was taken from two different locations in the house; the thieves also stole a handgun and a pair of rings — one of them a wedding band. Total loss is almost 8-thousand dollars. Investigators found the break-in had been accomplished by entering through an unlocked door while the couple was at the doctor’s office. So far, deputies have identified no suspects.
