With school in Wilkes starting Monday, officials are putting out a couple of reminders concerning buses. First, with the substantial changes to bus routes we told you about earlier this month, there is bound to be some confusion and fine-tuning the first couple of weeks of class.School officials ask that children be at their bus stop by 10 minutes before the scheduled time for the bus to arrive, to allow for the inevitable confusion and its effect on the bus coming at the scheduled time. Also, school officials say, it's time to start being on the lookout for school buses during your morning and evening driving activities. Remember that you cannot pass a school bus from either direction if it has the stop arm extended and red lights flashing. One other note: on the first day of school, students will attend only a half day. They will be dismissed at 12:30 in the elementaries and at 1pm in the middle and high schools. Lunch will be served before students are sent home.
