Ronda Candidates Have an Extra Week to File

Candidate filing for the Ronda municipal elections has been extended for one week by the Wilkes County Board of Elections. The decision by the board was made Friday afternoon since only two candidates filed for the three open seats. it was announced in a news release today. The two who have filed are Wanda Blackburn, an incumbent, and Gene Fowler. The other two seats at stake in the election are currently occupied by Manuel Wood and his daughter, Holly Staley, who have not filed for re-election. The new deadline for Ronda filing Friday at noon. Candidates may file at the board of elections offices, on the third floor of the Wilkes County Office Building. The Journal-Patriot reports that if no one else files, the ballot will be printed with the two names, along with three spaces for write-in candidates.
