Two people were killed after the motorcycles they were riding crashed on the track at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday.

Clemmons Councilman Chris Jones remained in critical condition at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center on Sunday after falling at his home last week.

Jones, 70, has served on the council since 1997.

Village Mayor John Bost said in an email to village residents that Jones’ injuries were severe.

“Short of a transformational miracle, he will be missed,” Bost wrote in the email. “Please continue to lift Chris, his family and friends up in your prayers, as they will be faced with difficult decisions in the days ahead.”
