BOONE—Education is the common theme running through the philanthropic activities of Judy and Steve James.
The Greensboro couple has established the Judy and Steve James Scholarship for Education to support Appalachian State University students pursuing a teaching career. They have also established an endowment for this scholarship through their estate plans.

Appalachian professors receive NCBC grant to facilitate interdisciplinary research

BOONE—A $151,246 institutional development grant has been awarded to Appalachian State University faculty from the N.C. Biotech Center (NCBC). This is the first NCBC award to Appalachian specifically for research in biotechnology.
