Students receive N.C. Subway Group scholarships

CHAPEL HILL–Two students at Appalachian State University have received a Peter S. Slomianyj Scholarship from the N.C. Subway Group (NCSGI).
They are Theresa Hoffman of Clemmons, a SUBWAY® employee and a senior foods and nutrition major; and Jayme Hartley of Boone, a SUBWAY® employee and a senior criminal justice major.

BOONE—Three faculty members from Appalachian State University’s College of Fine and Applied Arts have been recognized for their outstanding service, scholarship and teaching.

Additional volunteers sought for research project

BOONE—Appalachian State University is seeking 500 individuals between the ages of 30-85 to participate in a study to determine the effectiveness of quercetin in reducing sickness from upper respiratory infections. Quercetin is a natural antioxidant derived from plants, such as red apples, red grapes and broccoli.
