Renewable energy workshops offered at Appalachian

BOONE—A series of workshops focusing on renewable energy will be held at Appalachian State University beginning in June.
The workshops are sponsored by Appalachian’s Department of Technology and the W.N.C. Renewable Energy Initiative.

Appalachian students receive $75,000 EPA P3 sustainability award

BOONE—Students from the Department of Technology at Appalachian State University have received a two-year $75,000 EPA P3 (People, Prosperity and the Planet) Award to continue work on a project to convert biomass into a usable by-product that can produce fuel to warm greenhouses.

Appalachian selected to compete in Solar Decathlon 2011

BOONE—Appalachian State University has been selected to compete in the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2011, which will take place on the National Mall in Washington D.C. next October.
